Wonderful images, really enjoyed looking at them.
I don't see them as controversial, just another way of telling your story.

My personal preference is to shoot for the foreground and background at the same time (ie minutes apart), so that the light is not excessively different on the foreground to what it would be at night-time. Different feel as the foreground whilst properly exposed, feels like night time....if that makes sense.

A mate of mine has a different philosophy: he says he only needs one Milky way shot, and lots of landscapes!

But amazing skill/talent Liam, as has already been said.
