SpaceX has just deployed the final ten Iridium satellites in the upgrade program. Sixty-six are now in orbit with most operational. These are replacing the original Iridium network, whose satellites are being lowered to burn up in the atmo. Unlike the original network, the new satellites do no reflect sunlight (or flare) the way the old ones did. So Iridium flares are ceasing. Sad about that, as they were a feature of trips to the dark site.
