Depending on the type of cable you have you could possibly shorten it.
I have cable similar to this one
RJ45 FTDI EQDIR USB Cable Adaptor Skywatcher EQ3/5 Pro, HEQ5 Syntrek + More ( eBay link not working for me just copy & paste in eBay search )
I cut the RJ45 end to length. From what I remember it’s a 3 wire system into the RJ45. Just strip & lay wires back into RJ45 correctly as per one you removed then crimp
Has worked for me, but if you chose to undertake be 110% sure you have wired RJ45 exactly as other one ( all responsibility falls onto you if you chose to do this )
