Dunk, i am looking at the Nikon D3300 and the D5300, not sure about your definition of a good sensor, but if the APS-C, 24megpixel, is acceptable, both have relatively good QE of 56-59% (for a OSC), low noise and reasonable well depth (39000 i think). The D3300 is pretty cheap at less than $500 AUD right now from some sources.
