Of course. With just a regular tripod (or even handheld with image stabilisation) you should easily be able to capture the moon at fairly high detail.

You can do some very mild long-exposure shots as well (say up to 30 sec max?) but you're likely to end up with blurring at 75mm without a tracking mount. With such a mount and heaps of practice (keep in mind, no telescope involved yet!) I was able to use my 450D to snap:

Just saying, there's a heap of stuff you can do at low focal lengths without ever touching a telescope. Just requires practice and lots of patience
