i finally managed to get the dome working today and have it move majestically with the scope and mount - well it doesn't do that really, just a lot of grinding and clattering then stop with an open hole in front of the scope
but it seems to work
i finally worked out i had a number of errors and problems
1. me
2. a dicky reed switch (last thing changed)
3. software, or should be called softWAR
4. combination of all above
and what happens after i get all this to work............cloud
