That's a good point Steffen, never thought about it like that. I suppose I was too fixated on the structural strength rather than it's dynamic properties. My friend has added two gussets to each face on the base plate (I think it's 100mm on the base plate and 150mm on the pier column). I dont have any pics unfortunately yet but I will soon!
In the mean time I finally started the dig. I managed (LxWxD) 600x600x400 in about an hour and a bit before I gave up
I plan to make it 700x700x500 before commencing the pour
Took some pics but honestly so many you can take before it just... looks the same
Got the usual "So who you planning to bury?" from everyone
