My son is thinking of doing a time lapse of conjunction setting this afternoon,what would be the best size of images setting to be used?

Also,would AV be better than manual set?,might be interesting from very early on,until it sets,as it quickly goes behind a tree and back out again.

Thanks for any advice,will let him use the 450D and 17-55 F 2.8
