You might get away with short subs, say 30 secs, with good polar alignment. As to the camera there are many possible but do you want to buy for the future, or just to play around with now? If buy for the future at that focal length it is hard to go past the ASI1600. You could put a reducer on the refractor. What type of scope is it? Is a budget achromat or an APO? More info would help.
