A good friend of mine recently bought a Canon 450D. She has been trying to activate the LCD screen on the back of the camera as the view finder while the camera is in automatic mode. When it is on any of the auto modes, the LCD screen is either black with text/pics of the camera settings or off, and you therefore need to look through the viewfinder to know what will be in the frame. When in any of the manual modes, the LCD screen comes on, so no issues there..

Can you use the LCD on the back of the camera while in any of the automatic modes?? If so, any hints how to do this??
