So might just consider a small (< 70mm) refractor, unless if anyone else has managed to get a Mono + FW combo working!

It appears it is possible - http://ukastroimaging.co.uk/forums/i...?topic=54566.0
I suppose I need much thinner adapters. Hmmm
I have a Nikon 180 F2.8 ED. I was thinking of getting the FLI nikon adapter. I normally use Pentax 67 lenses because of this backfocus issue. They have 89mm of backfocus making them easy to use.

I did use a 180 ED in the past on an SBIG STL11 successfully.
Can you get thinner adapters?

Greg.
