Dust storms have a negative impact on rovers exploring the planet's surface, since dust settling on solar panels significantly reduces the amount of sunlight, preventing the device from fully receiving energy. In addition, the dust lifted into the atmosphere obscures the panels of the rovers from the Sun. Dust also gets into the moving mechanical parts of the devices, which leads to malfunctions in their operation. But still, it is a wonderful event to be observed for.
