Hi Peter,

I have pointed both my DMK21 and DBK21 at Jupiter and (colourful) Double Stars. In terms of signal/noise ratio as related to image quality (IQ), what I have noticed is that the DBK requires a significantly higher gain setting to achieve similar exposures. This in itself can compromise IQ if you are limited to the number of frames you can capture due to e.g. Jupiter's rapid rotation.

In terms of sensitivity, the DBK doesn’t have the capability to record some fainter doubles so I have to remove it and plug in the DMK.

I guess this isn’t really surprising as the DMK mono chips soaks up the maximum amount of photons whereas the RGB Bayer matrix would make the DBK less efficient?

Cheers

Dennis
