Bought this camera for the wife for her birthday recently- excellent price through ebay(Aussie seller, but came direct from HK). Stills are excellent. Have not used the movies yet, but the same thing applied-my son would like to make movies and liked the HD movie mode. Sounds like your motivation for buying this camera is the same as ours. Have to get the kids to make a quick movie to tell me how well it works. I have used camera once- bit of a pest in bright light with the lack of an optical viewfinder. With a bit of luck, Sunday may be an opportunity to test out on aeroplanes at the Illawarra air show
