The price of the 5D II on Canon's US site is quoted as "Suggested retail Price $2699", they won't sell many in this country at $4499, it's a global market now and overseas prices dictate local prices.

Grey market sellers will set the street price.

I bought a 24-105L at Hardly Normal recently for $1399, I couldn't have landed a grey market item in Lonny for that price.

With pretty well all Canon product now, the price settles at a few dollars above the conversion rate, for example the AU$1650 EOS50D has an SRP on the Canon Site of US$1399.

$1650 is almost exactly the $AU amount of todays conversion ($AU approx US$0.84), and don't forget we have GST added in.

My money is on a street price of $3400, although it's likely that a few dealers will demand premium prices due to short supply.
