Hi,
While a new model and not in use as much as say a 40D it is essentially a souped up 40D; so given that it like all DSLR's has a very poor Ha response it is probably one of the best DSLR cameras on the market for astro work.
Go and search the forums for info and photos about and taken with a 40D to get some idea of it's potential.
