Hi Dave,

I'm no expert at all so forgive me if my info is wrong, but I am not sure how useful a full frame DSLR camera is for planetary work as they give a wider field of view than an APS-C sensor, which is generally found in the lower end models (smaller sensor than full frame). You can do planetary work with an entry level DSLR these days and deep space with it too, even in my entry level canon 600d which has smaller aps-c sensor you want to utilise the 3x video crop mode (zoom), most of the time -and it even has 30fps in full HD mode. von Tom on this forum gets great results with this setup. However, I still think a specialised planetary CCD will give better results.
