I went the other way, I bought a 1000d about two weeks ago, $1119 for the Twin IS kit and 4G card delivered.
Sure the 450 has a bigger screen for live view on the camera, but I use "live view" through my PC using the EOS Utility so I have a 12 inch view screen, beats the heck out of 2.5 or 2.7 inch screens. Plus I can remote focus the lens from the utility as well.
Again I dont have a scope I can really look through with a cam, so am piggybacking it on my ETX125 with a lens, you can see on of my shots in the DS photo section of the southern cross from 2 days ago.
It is nice and light as well.
