Definitely a nice catch.

So let me try and visualise this.

M77 is about 47 million light years from earth. SN AT2018ivc is a star that has gone supernova in this galaxy and is hovering around a magnitude of 14 ish. Looking at how bright this stands out on the image, imagine how it would look if you were in a solar system next door. Would be amazing to observe (though would kind of muck up the dark sky observing for while too I guess).
