UNITRON 80mm SPOTTING SCOPE

I saw this scope in Icetrade.

It is very similar to my 80mm which I bought in 1973, with the difference that mine had a turret with the same eyepieces in it.
And is of the Polarex brand (which was in the EU). Unitron is a US (and Australian ?) brand.

But I replaced the turret by a 1.25" socket (which I lathed in the original focusing tube) and put a diagonal into it to allow the much better 1.25" eyepieces.

And the objective turned out to have strong astigmatism due to pinching, so I replaced it by another one which turned out to be much better.

Since then I use this (modified) 80mm scope very often as it has a convenient table tripod and can be taken off it and mounted on a photo tripod or an EQ mount.

I hope for the seller that his objective does not have this pinched astigmatism.
