where will you be staying in Sydney?
As you suggest, we have some great views of the Southern Skies and in particular the Milky Way.
But as others have said, not necessarily from Sydney.
If you want to travel just under 100k north of Sydney I can take you to our dark sky site at Mangrove Mountain. This would involve about one and a half hours drive for you (each way).
Would you be interested in staying local overnight?
There may be some other observing sites around Sydney that may better suit if someone cares to escort you, but I don't know them.
