I spent the early evening looking out the window, hoping things would clear,
. Would you believe it, IT DID! At 10pm from the window of where I was staying, Orion, Canis Major and co. were so clearly visible.
The best I could manage was a short session from a nearby golf course with a few street lights to contend with. But, hey, better than nothing.
I had my 10" scope (tiny bugger all packed up too), and was up and viewing half an hour later after dressing, driving and setting up.
The sky did have hazy low level cloud come and go, so I just did a bit of a tour, pinning a few of the targets from the November Obs. Challenge, and a few others.
M77 - bright bugger
M74
Fornax cluster - SO many galaxies!!
Mira
All of these were first time acquistions.
The session lasted one an a half hours only, until clouds, fog and dew ended what at first looked like a no-goer.
Better than nothing I guess.
Cheers,
Mental.
