Ngc6744

This image is of NGC6744 which is an intermediate galaxy in Pavo. It apparently would appear very much like the Milky Way, so gives us an idea of what our galaxy looks like from a distance.

I had tough conditions for this (cloud and poor seeing) and have started this image several times over the last few years. Seeing was pretty average most nights and only a few nights produced slightly above average results. I was therefore forced to accept a lot of high FWHM data to even get a result. It also needs a lot more colour data too, it's a bit thin at 55 minutes each channel. It's now getting too low too quickly to collect anymore data. If I don't change anything on this system I'll try again next year and add more data.
