Double Time!!

Well the Moons been up and the skies been mucky, time to get some double stars under the belt!
Where I have referred to documented info, I am using either Hartung (2nd ed. 1984) or Double Stars for Small Telescopes by Sissy Haas (2008)

Mu Carina (Hartung 356)
Both stars are brilliant white. Hartungs gives mags of 3.2 and 6.0 with a 5" seperation. Easily split at moderate power, but brightness differential was not as great as expected.

Alpha Crucis (Hartung 462)
Brilliant double, very close in magnitude. Both appear white in colour. Hartungs gives mags 1.6 and 2.1. Estimate sep. to be about 5" which agrees with documentation of 4.4". Wide companion of about mag 5 is approx 70" away to Sp. This is a very nice target and is getting better at the moment.

Iota Leporis (Hartung 151)
Fairly bright naked eye star. About 4deg south of Rigel is wide trapezium of 4 stars. Target is Np corner. Primary is white, speck sitting almost within its glare is estimated to be about mag 10, Very reminiscent of Rigel.

Kappa Leporis (Hartung 153)
Located approx 1deg S of Iota Leporis. Needs higher power (230x) but still is almost a figure 8. Better seeing may allow clearer seperation. Hard to see significant brightess difference. A challenging object.

h3759 (In Lepus)
Fairly wide double at 115x. Lies about 1.5deg NNp of Beta Leporis (Nihal). Primary is brilliant yellow, companion about 30" away is recorded as cobalt blue. Just a hint of blue was visible.

Lal 1 (In Lepus)
Easy pair. Located about 2deg just p of North of Gamma Leporis. Estimated sep to be about 15" which is close to do0cumented value of 11". Estimate mags to be 6 and 8, again documented values are 6.9 and 7.9. Primary is clear white, secondary colour not clear due to seeing.

Gamma Leporis (Hartung 193)
Wide pair sep is about 1.5'. Clear yellow primary with suggestion of red or even mauve in secondary.
