I do see Aqua , and I know some say they see it as very blue. Depends on the person. I have never seen bulges on east or west side. But I have not used super high mag either. Must do so next time.

On a night of good seeing, crank up that power on 3918, recently with the 12" at 667x I could see very faint bulges at the east and west ends of the nebula. These can be seen in HST photos.
