There is significant light gain of the 8 inch over the 6 inch.
8^2=64, 6^2=36.
64/36~1.8 or nearly twice the light gathering ability.
Dimmer objects will be easier to see with the 8 inch, even under skyglow.
Go for the 8 inch!
