Interesting - Yes I see how it has them as similar radiance. I sometimes look at the "older" maps, usually the ATLAS 2015 (although it says "NEW" - You can select it on the menu "Base Layers & Overlays" on the screen Top right). I prefer the presentation of brightness units shown on this map as it is in mcd/m2 and also shows the equivalent SQM reading. On this map it shows the circumstances the way you've described them, as Heathcote about twice as dark (typical brightness<0.2 mcd/m2) VS behind Yan Yean Reservoir (brightness of 0.3 to 0.4 mcd/m2).


VIIRS 2017 - Home 41, Bayside nearby 2.1, Yarra Junction (Easter Visit 2016) 0.2 or better
