It may be soon Humayun - one day. FilmGimp was always 16-bit capable, and may one day be used as the new platform on which the familiar version is based.
For the moment, CS3/4 is king. I've tried Krita - and yes, the GUI is arguably better than GIMPs, but I've found it a little well... ergh.. I prefer Photoshop.
