13th July, 2018 - Partial Solar Eclipse - SA.

Hi all,

I managed to capture the entire sequence of the Partial Solar Eclipse, from South Australia. I was setup at Clayton Bay. Plagued with Equipment problems, the weather also looked like it was going to prove the superstitions right about Friday the 13th. In the end, superstitions were squashed and the Equipment was working (to a degree) and the weather cleared in time.

The eclipse only lasted a mere 23 minutes from my location, so it wasn't very long at all. I managed to capture at least 31 AVI videos, through the ZWO ASI174 camera and SW102-500 achromat. Each video was approx 5200 frames, which I took the best 1200 frames from and stacked them. Resolution wasn't that great because I had to stop down the telescope to a tiny 1 1/4" to be able to dim the Sun enough so it wasn't blown out. Not sure why this was yet. So in the end, we captured a rare event.

Here is a small animation of the event...
