I set the camera physically to M mode, set the ISO, and any other settings, then set the EOS Utility to Bulb. Next, I click the interval timer shooting button, set my exposure details and away I go.
Also, Dennis, unfortunately mirror lockup hasn't been implemented on the DIGIC III/IV via USB. Apparently it isn't possible.

I was going from memory, so I could not be certain of exactly what mode I was in and what settings I had made, so I may be “remembering” a different configuration. So many cameras, so many camera control applications…sigh…
