Minimizing noise using CS5 or DPP

Hi folks.

I've had a look at Fred Basset's fine time lapse sequences, and like to have try at something like that one night.Using a Canon 10-22 mm lens on 50D.I have a small EQ mount that does not get used for anything else.

The main problem I can see going to noise. The 50D will give much more than Fred's 5D2. What is best way to lower noise in PP? I use CS5 and DPP.

But never had much skill in removing noise. What are the best settings to using? I always seem to end up with more noise when I run any image through PP.So end up never using it.Any advice on where to put the settings too before using the slider, would be very well received.

Thanks Chris
