Mars 10 and 11 Sep 2018

Hello again,

Good seeing conditions over the past couple of days allowed me to record these two views of Mars volcanoes (Elysium and Olympus Mons).

10 Sep image - Elysium Mons caldera is prominent in the north with another terminator projection visible in the south (at 5 to 12). Volcanic peak is free of orographic cloud but there are some wispy features over Mare Chronium north of South Polar Cap. Characteristic northerly extensions off Mare Cimmerium (Gomer and Laestrigonum) are also on show. North polar region maintains its bluish tinge.

11 Sep image - In a spooky twist of fate seeing reached its peak for this 3 minute capture at 9:11 UTC on 9/11/18. It's interesting to see how much redder Olympus Mons and Tharsis look compared to Elysium (emerging on the terminator). Solis Lacus is seen rotating out of view in the west with Mare Sirenum stretching eastward.

Cheers,
Seb
