If it's like my 450D, then LOTS of stuff gets installed from the setup disks. If you run XP, I would install all of the all of the Windows/XP packages listed under the following link:

If you have any other drivers installed for the 350D, make sure to unninstall them first. Canon state in their doco to install all software before connecting the camera to the PC.
