I went through the same process last week - I think simply leave the gamma at 50 and play between gain and exposure to manipulate the FPS figure.
The biggest issue I had was getting my motorised filter wheel to work - eventually found the ASCOM drivers etc and got it working so now up and running - don't think you will have many issue driving the program.
