The kit lenses will be relatively "slow" and not particularly well corrected compared to dedicated primes. Night time photography usually takes a back set to day time. But the only way to find out is to try it

Rather than the Sam/Rok 14mm f/2.8, I'd go for the 12mm f/2.0 if it were my $$$...a full stop faster and the lens gets impressively good reviews. Just be aware that either of these are really wide FOV...about 90 degrees or so across.
