Kempa,
Welcome to the world of spectroscopy!
The Grating is an ideal starting point, using it I call "Spectroscopy 101".
It lets you acquire and understand the spectral image, practise the processing and allows you to analyse the various features of stellar spectra.

You don't mention which telescope your using?
The grating can be used "in the converging beam" of a telescope, mounted in the 1.25" camera nosepiece or as an "objective grating" mounted directly in front of a camera lens.

Our website is a great way of making a start. Check it out.

If you need any further info/ assistance just let me know.
