I find it okay under PHD - for 2-3 second exposures it can grab reasonably faint stars.
Focus on something bright - say Jupiter on 1 second refreshes, and once that looks sharp - check its moons until they are at maximum sharpness.
Then set it to say 3 seconds and try of fainter stars.
