Hope this is not too much of a red herring, but just just in case you hadn't noticed, Apogee now has the 694 chip in their lineup.

might be worth a look at the specs if you wanted to go for a higher end solution or just to be re-assured that the other camera makers are are likely to be able to deliver on their specs. Note that they give two different read noise figures - looks like the quoted dynamic range refers to the noisier high speed mode - the chip is much quieter in low speed mode.
