Well I've had another look at the 7D.

Using the http://www.the-digital-picture.com/R...ra-Review.aspx review I can't see lots of difference between the noise levels of the APS-C cameras. Of course the 5D does stand out presumably due to the full frame sensor.

The RAW files on the 7D are 14 bit whereas the 1000D is only 12 bit. Now my small understanding here is that I may get more room between the noise and the image ??

Something I do like about the 7D is that it can do Medium and Small RAW files because lets face it I only really need up to 2000 pixels wide for doing video. Converting a 1400 frame RAW sequence into a SD TV video from the 1000D in After Effects on my quad core, raid video editing machine was a really slow process.

But can I justify the $800 difference between the 7D and the 50D ? I can get a 7D body only in Oz for $1899. On top of this I'll need to upgrade my intervalometer connections which is a new AC adaptor and shutter trigger connection. Oh and move over to CF cards. Anyone need 2 x 16Gb SD cards ?

Anyhow I'll continue to nut it out.
