Hi Glen,
From my (limited) experience at SPSP, it is a lot further than 25 metres from van sites to the (official) observing field.
However, if you mean imagers field, that is even miles further. However, I am not sure if imagers are able to park at or near the imagers field. This is (or at least was in my time) a bloody long way from the official "Observing" field. In fact I never found it.
