Open Cluster NGC 2516 Carina

Open Cluster NGC 2516 Carina- viewed Feb 11 with Tak 100D.

This well known cluster is visible to the naked eye, on the western side of the False Cross.

EP:- Panoptic 24mm (30x) . The cluster has 5 bright stars, of which two are orange. I did not notice any other stars of colour in the cluster. I counted 98 other stars that were easily visible in the scope. It was hard to determine where the cluster finished, as the general richness of the area continued, particularly to the north and east of the cluster. I may have been guilty of counting to try and reach a 100.

Remarks: A lovely object to view, and somewhat of a preview to the other magnificent clusters that lie in Carina.
