Is the cable wired correctly for the hand controller? Each different manufacturer’s hand controller seems to require a custom wiring configuration for it to operate correctly with the SBIG camera.
If the ħRA, Ground and ħDEC signals are going to the wrong pins you could get the behaviour you describe?
