It depends on the OP's EOS D/SLR.As some of the older ones,such as 300D and 350D.The Utility would not work more than 30 seconds.When I had the 300D to take longer exp-I used a cable with a bulb setting,and could take exp for as long as I wanted.All the other settings I could change on the laptop,the button sat next to the lap top and all was good.The newer EOS cameras do not need the cable to do long exp.Geoff Johnston makes the cables with bulb and shutter release and sells them for $25 including postage.Hope this helps.
