Yep, I do have backups.. I was only puzzled with HP behavior with different OS's.
When I used XP on my desktop, I knew the disk was useless with w'7 for a year or so..
Also, once my HD fell on the floor from table... I managed to salvage everything using LINUX only (there was no physical damage to the disk) despite the whole sub directory was un-readable to xp.
