Old EQ by Thomas Gaunt

Selling my old Victorian era mount circa mid 1870’s, as far as I know.

Some years ago I did a thread in the atm section on building a tangent arm and RA gear for this mount. When I bought it it was a simple push to.

Now has an Ed Byers 360 tooth RA gear and a new tangent arm on the Dec axis. A Celestron 492 digital drive powers two steeper motors.

Mount comes with three 5kg counterweights as well as the 1.25 weight as shown. Weights are black skywatcher. Also two saddles, the Orion vixen style and an ADM Losmandy style saddle.

Included are gears and encoder cages (pictures later if requested) for DSC. I used Argo Navis 10K encoders, which can be bought from Gary.

This mount needs a bit of periodic maintenance as the gears are open to the elements, but works beautifully.

The mount and pier weighs round 150 kilo’s.....heavy, but breaks down into smaller somewhat manageable parts. A fridge trolley which is useful for moving the mount is included.

Scope on top is a SW 120 f5 achro.....not for sale but shown for scale.

Reason for selling.....I built a large EQ mount 3 years ago and never use this one so it needs a new home.

This is a pick up only....or could drive 2-3 hours out of Melbourne.

Price.....will never get back what I’ve put into it in time or money.
So....make an offer.

PMs only and thanks for looking.
