One factor to consider with these high megapixel cameras is sampling.
The pixels are small and they are really best suited to a short focal length scope.
On a longer focal length scope you would be oversampling and losing sensitivity. So maybe not the best for a long focal length scope.
Given the current megapixel race with rumours of a 75mp Canon mirrorless camera soon to be released then expect this trend to continue.
