Solar activity - or lack of
Hi Folks,
I haven't done any solar observing for a while, so today I set up the Lunt LS60PTa1200 at midday.
Not a skerrick of detail anywhere on the disk, no sunspots, no granulation, no proms. Just a nice focussed reddish disk.
I tried resetting the pressure tuner (unscrew to achieve ambient pressure), but no joy.
I have never had this experience before. Even when it's quiet, there has always been some detail on the disk.
So out came the TV85, first with a white light filter (Thousand Oaks Optical), then a Herschel Wedge. Same result, no detail whatsoever.
I am near Darwin, it was a beaut clear dry season day. A good sharp focus was easily achieved, with not much turbulence visible to disrupt the seeing.
Has anyone else observed the same over the last day or so ?
