Forex never works off the cross rate...what buy rate were xe.com quoting with fees (if any)?
PayPal is not great, but many Credit cards are worse and charge an additional foreign transaction fee.
I think Aussie dealers unfairly get a bad "price" wrap given they have to observe Australia Consumer law with many selling at the same price point..and sometimes cheaper.
If you buy offshore any problems usually come at your expense..
