Which canon do you want to modify?
On the pre-400D models -to use standard camera lenses you need to replace the 3mm thick filter.
On newer cameras the filter is only 0.8mm thick and I find I can still focus my 1000D normally with the filter removed. So, maybe you don't need to replace the filter......
