For me it really depends on the situation.

Matte is great for no fingerprints, so when showing off a shot of the kids to parents and children, it's excellent! I use the Canon Matte Photo Card 170gsm.

I use Gloss to show off my best shots. There is something more special and 'professional' about it. Of course that also means you are more touchy about people touching it. I get the best results with Canon Glossy Photo Pro in my canon printer. (Tried kodak once but couldn't get it to work without bleeding, so I gave up wasting money on paper that may work)

Everything else is canon matte craft/photocard or paper
